From state-run health exchanges, to the adoption of Electronic Medical Records, to the advent of value-based tracking and reimbursement systems, the healthcare landscape is continually shifting.

No group is impacted more by these changes than independent physicians and practitioners, who must balance time spent caring for patients with the challenges of running a modern medical practice. These added pressures are reflected by findings from a recent survey* of more than 17,000 physicians throughout the U.S. who are actively involved in patient care:

  • Physicians spend 21% of their time on non-clinical paperwork, the equivalent of 168,000 physician FTEs not engaged in clinical activities.
  • Only 14% of physicians have the time they need to provide the highest standards of care.
  • Most physicians say they are “very/somewhat” unfamiliar with the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA). Conversely, very few (just one in five) feel “very/somewhat” familiar with MACRA.

Independent physicians have never been more challenged to grow their business while delivering high quality care. SmartCareMD can help physicians do both.
